MHS Parent Page
Minden High School has a rich heritage of education and culture. In 1897 the Webster Parish School Board voted to establish a central parish high school in Minden. The trustees of the already existing Minden Normal and Business College offered a building. In 1901, the first year of its existence as a high school, MHS graduated one senior, Harry Crichton. Since 1901 a total of over 6,000 students have graduated from this fine institution. The class of 1975 became the largest graduating class of 248 graduates due to the consolidation with Webster High School. This combination of rich academic and athletic history is an opportunity still offered today. Today you have the opportunity to add memories by adding to the history of MHS. Join with us, Home of Champions.
The high school years can be one of the most memorable for both parents and students. Below you will find numerous resources that will help keep these four years running smooth. Become part of our Home of Champions.

iLeap
The iLEAP replaced the Iowa exam given in the 9th grade. This exam gives students an idea of where they stand on the various skills through 9th grade. MHS also uses these scores to determine if remediation is needed in a particular subject area. Students that score below the 35 percentile will be placed in a remediation course for that subject. This has proven to help tremendously with the GEE pass rate.
GEE
The Graduate Exit Exam (GEE) is given in two parts. Part one is given during a student's sophomore year. This includes the GEE mathematics and Language Arts. Part two is given during a student's junior year and it includes the GEE science and social studies. A student must pass three parts of the GEE to graduate. These parts include the following: GEE mathematics, GEE Language Arts, and either the GEE science or social studies. If a student doesn't pass the required tests, they will retake the test during the summer and throughout the school year until reaching a passing score. Remediation courses and tutoring is available throughout the year.
ACT
Most colleges require an ACT score for admission. The ACT can be taken at anytime during a students education. Most students take it for the first time during their sophomore year. MHS is one of the test sites for the ACT, but we do not register each student. Students can register online or by picking up a packet in the counselors office.
