Test Prep

What do you need to know?
GLE's
Grade Level Expectations, GLE’s, are what a student should know at the end of each grade. Mathematics K—12

How will you be tested?

iLeap
The iLEAP replaced the Iowa exam given in the 9th grade. This exam gives students an idea of where they stand on the various skills through 9th grade. MHS also uses these scores to determine if remediation is needed in a particular subject area. Students that score below the 35 percentile will be placed in a remediation course for that subject. This has proven to help tremendously with the GEE pass rate.

GEE

The Graduate Exit Exam (GEE) is given in two parts. Part one is given during a student's sophomore year. This includes the GEE mathematics and Language Arts. Part two is given during a student's junior year and it includes the GEE science and social studies. A student must pass three parts of the GEE to graduate. These parts include the following: GEE mathematics, GEE Language Arts, and either the GEE science or social studies. If a student doesn't pass the required tests, they will retake the test during the summer and throughout the school year until reaching a passing score. Remediation courses and tutoring is available throughout the year.

ACT

Most colleges require an ACT score for admission. The ACT can be taken at anytime during a students education. Most students take it for the first time during their sophomore year. MHS is one of the test sites for the ACT, but we do not register each student. Students can register online or by picking up a packet in the counselors office.

Where can you practice?
Louisiana Pass

PASS is a web based learning tool for Louisiana Students. The PASS system allows students to practice skills similar to those found on the iLEAP and GEE tests. These tests include multiple choice, short answer, and essay. First time users set-up an account using the password "tiger."
